Origins #quaterlifecrisis

I’ve always been a big fan of Origins who specializes in producing skin care that is certified organic and free of chemicals, which is great for every skin type especially if you have sensitive skin!

So, let me introduce to you the two products that they have gifted me:
1. Rose Clay Mask
2. Renewal Serum with Willowherb
from the Origins Original Skin line!

School has been pretty stressful lately with test after test and the countdown to As, resulting in my skin not being so great… the usual problems such as dullness, break outs and roughness, like where you get those irritating bumps on your skin? I’m sure you guys can relate!

Now that I’m done with the usual A level rant, I really want to share with you how the products have helped with my skin tremendously! After one application of the mask, I really noticed that my skin has become more translucent and brighter.

Here is a before pic:

And next, me using the product! The texture of the mask is rough to touch as it has small beads to help exfoliate the skin as you wash it off. The smell is pleasant, very aromatic and it reminds me of an English garden (not that I’ve been to one, it is just how I would imagine it to be).

A selfie with the product of course, as all narcissistic girls do ☺

I edited it on the Origins #QuarterLifeCrisis app, available on both Android and iOS! Use these links to download it.

I left the mask on for 10min as per the instructions, but you can leave on till it dries as I usually do for other products. One thing I noticed is that the mask washes off very easily, no need for scrubbing unlike other masks yay!! After the mask, I applied the serum for immediate hydration. Most tend to leave out this step, which leaves the skin very dry.

The serum is very light and absorbs easily into the skin, great for everyday use! It smells a bit citrusy which is nice. If you want to have and maintain healthy, glowing skin it’s not enough to only use a moisturizer because it just doesn’t have the ingredients inside to tackle your skin problems, unlike a serum! Serums come in a variety of formulas, packed with the ingredients needed to tackle specific skin problems. They are also more easily absorbed into your skin than moisturizer. You shouldn’t miss this step in your skin care routine!

The best part about this serum is that it tackles all five of the common annoying skin problems in your twenties! Sometimes we get so busy and stressed and don’t have time to take proper care of ourselves or get enough sleep and it shows in our skin. It becomes so dull and you end up looking so tired…. But the Origins serum contains Persian Silk Tree that helps skin rebound and Willowherb that restores glow to combat stress and dull skin. Other than combating stress and dullness it is also good for dealing with roughness as it has Chestnut Seed Extract to make my skin smooth! And it has algae that makes my pores appear to vanish.

Just one product to fight all of those problems, so you save time too! Which is great for girls in school or those embarking on a new job to help avoid the problems of quarter life skin. No more flawed skin!

Apply it to the 4 main areas of the face as shown above and you are done!

Face of BrowHaus 2015

Hey guys! I’ve great news….. as you can infer in the title, I’m the new face of Browhaus! *squeals* this came really unexpectedly and I’m so lucky to have gotten this opportunity.

In line with winning the contest, I got interviewed by Shentonista ( you can view more of the photos there 🙂

Read about my interview with them here!

1. What is the craziest/adventurous makeup look you have ever tried?
I’m actually quite boring! (laughs) I guess it would have to be black, smoky eyes. You know Taylor Momsen from Gossip Girl? She had this whole racoon-eye thing, and I wanted to try it. My mum did it for me; my uncle’s a makeup artist in Hong Kong. I wore it for a night out with friends.

2. What’s the silliest/most outrageous thing you’ve done for beauty?
One time I over-plucked my brows and they became really thin — it was so gross. I went to thread my brows at some Indian place and it cost me just $5, but they only had this standard stencil for everyone’s brows and it was very bad.

3. How do you find ways to match your makeup to your look?
My wardrobe is quite monochromatic, but I like bright makeup, like a bold lip. I’m quite into wet eyeshadows but I haven’t tried that look yet. I always look at beauty advertisements or references, especially from high-fashion brands. (Do you think you’re more adventurous because your uncle’s a makeup artist?) I think it’s because I feel that makeup is very empowering. You can look like a different person every day, and it makes you feel so much better and it’s so fun. I used to draw when I was younger, but I stopped, and now makeup is kind of like painting my face.

4. How have your look and brow shape evolved over the years?
I’ve tried the straight brow look, but it doesn’t work for me. My face is structured, so when I draw a straight brow my face looks very flat. I’ve also tried dyeing my brows a very light brown, so I looked like I had no brows for awhile. I bleached my brows, I don’t know why I did it; my hair was so dark. I looked kind of alien-y. It was not bad lah, I had to draw my brows every day, but I was 15, still in secondary school and I didn’t really care. (You were so adventurous from such a young age?) Yeah I like makeup, I started applying it when I was 13.

I’m wearing Top from Finders Keepers, Shoes from Topshop, Rings from The Haute Pursuit.
Make up: the Browhaus Bi-Liner in Grey, HD Mascara, and Classic Brow Lead.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity and cant wait for more things coming up xx

Life with Samsung S6

As you all may know, I had the pleasure to work with Samsung on the new Galaxy S6. Despite being sponsored, my opinions are heartfelt and I adore this phone!

Let me start by giving you a brief introduction to the phone, the S6 has a great camera feature such as pro mode, and low aperture that allows you to capture the best pictures in low or normal lighting! It’s probably one of my favorite features. Besides that, all new Samsung phones are equipped with turbo charging where 45min is all that it takes for the phone to be 75% charged. I’m not really a tech geek so I don’t know much about the specifics on the software, however I must say that it is really functional and highly adaptive since can be customized around your preference.

You must be wondering more right? Let me take you through the top 5 features after 1 month with the S6.

The Pro Mode Function

Screen Shot 2015-07-26 at 19.34.29

It allows you to adjust your settings just like a DSLR, how cool! No longer do I have to carry my crazy heavy camera around. It allows you to adjust the white balance, aperture and ISO just like a DSLR! Even if you aren’t that particular about your pictures, the auto mode is great for snapping everyday pictures as it adjusts to the surroundings perfectly.

2. The Battery Life

No pictures for this, but the battery life on this is insane! Leaving the house with 80% could last me the entire day in school. (this is based on how much I use my phone of course) Considering that I use my phone for about 2 hours in a 6 hour day, the phone rarely dies on me. But just in case, I bring my charger out! Also, S6 has the function of ultra power saving mode. It maximizes your battery life by limiting you to a choice of 6 apps and changing the display to monochrome. For example, 15% which could last you an hour on normal mode can last you up to 5 hours on the Ultra Power Saving mode!

3. The Aesthetics

Screen Shot 2015-07-26 at 19.33.15Screen Shot 2015-07-26 at 19.32.23

I’m a sucker for pretty things and the edge is honestly one of the prettiest phones ever. I love the reflective body of the edge, which allows it to appear holographic at different angles! *squeals* I’ll just let the pictures do the talking

4. Quick Launch Camera

Okay.. I know this is about the camera as well but I’m sorry, it’s really one of the main points that I take into consideration when I buy a phone! The quick launch camera enables you to “launch” the camera in just two quick presses on the home button. Doesn’t sound like much, but it really adds to the functionality of the phone. Personally for me, it’s great when you wanna capture “the moment” kind of pics! “The moment” passes you by in a blink of a second if you aren’t fast enough, so it’s great when you aren’t denied of a brilliant capture since your phone reacts fast enough

Hopefully you guys feel the same way as I do! Thank you for reading xx

Strip Exposes

I recently had my first ever brazilian wax at Strip in line with their new campaign, Strip exposes the Dirty Little Secrets. And I must say that I’m completely won over, knowing that my hygiene is of the utmost priority at Strip.

Being my first time, I was really hesitant- thinking about the pain and how uncomfortable it may be exposing yourself that way. Most girls probably feel the same way I did, I mean who wouldn’t be! But honestly, my worries were so apparent. Eugenia welcomed me and ran through the entire process of the brazilian wax, that really calmed my nerves. She ran through how the entire waxing process would be like so that the more I knew, the less I would fear.

They also provided me with a soft plushie which I hugged throughout the procedure! How sweet 🙂

2015-04-03 13.11.13

Something I learnt when I was at Strip, there are two types of waxes – hard wax and soft wax. Hard Wax is used on sensitive areas such as the brazilian area. It works better with coarse hair as it only grabs the hair and doesn’t pull the skin. On the other hand, soft wax is great at grabbing finer hairs and works much better on large areas of the body such as the upper and lower body. I’m glad that Strip uses only hard wax for the brazilian region!

What I really appreciated from Strip was their particular attention to making you at ease, they offered me 7 drops of bach flower essence under my tongue which relaxed me significantly and made me feel more at ease. Also, the therapist was easy going and made sure that I wasn’t in any discomfort before and during the brazilian wax.

2015-04-03 13.12.23

Which brings me to my next point, the ultimate reason why I picked Strip above everyone else is simply because I know I would be in good hands. They paid so much attention to let the customer know that your hygiene is the ultimate importance.
At Strip, they go through over 6,000 disposable razor cartridges, 9,000 fresh new towels, and 10,000 disposable gloves a week to keep our customers safe! I highly recommend getting a wax over shaving on your own.

1. it’s less time consuming and I usually dread the aftermath of straining my neck to reach certain areas.
2. And your skin feels so much softer versus getting a shave
3. It last so much longer as the hairs take a much longer time to grow back
4. No more razor bumps or scarring. It reduces the chances of ingrown hair as the hair is removed from the root completely rather than being cut on the surface that might cause the occasional ugly scar

2015-04-03 13.46.12

In line with their new campaign, they are also are offering your first Brazilian Wax at $32 (U.P. $62) as well as your first IPL brazilian at $68 (U.P. $642) by purchasing a voucher at! Apply discount code ‘Saffron’ during check out and get additional 10% off! T&Cs apply.

One dumbbell workout

School has already started for the most of us and for me I find it harder and harder to make time for the gym. I’m sure most of you feel the same, right? So I’ve started working out in the comfort of my own home saving time which would be spent traveling to the gym. Also, working out from home is a lot more stress free when you don’t have to wait hours on end for the equipment you want to use. Let’s get down to it! It would be a simple 30-40min full body workout involving one dumbbell. The dumbbell can be switched with a 1.5L water bottle, books or anything heavy. Just be creative! For this work out I’ll be using a 5kg dumbbell.

1st Routine (15 reps for each exercise, 3 sets/ I rest for 2min between each set)

1. Shoulder press Lunges (15 for each leg, making it 30 in total)

Hold the weight above the head and lunge. The knees should be at a 90degree angle and the back straight to prevent injury.

2. Donkey Kicks

Place the weight on the backs of your knee as shown in the picture. Lift the leg up making sure to have a full range of motion. As such the weight should be above your butt when lifted.

3. Shoulder press squats

Place the weight in front of your body in starting position. Once you begin to squat, lift the weight above your head. Remember to bring your butt as close to the ground as possible, engaging the glutes.

2nd Routine (15 reps for each exercise, 3 sets/ I rest for 2min between each set)

1. Shoulder press

With both hands, lift the weight above your head.

2. Dumbbell Rows (15 for each arm, 30 in total)

Kneel over side of bench by placing knee and hand of supporting arm on bench. Position foot of opposite leg slightly back to side. Grasp dumbbell from floor. Pull dumbbell to up to side until it makes contact with ribs or until upper arm is just beyond horizontal. Return until arm is extended and shoulder is stretched downward. Repeat and continue with opposite arm.

3. Weighted Sit ups

Extend your arms with the weights behind your head and sit up.

Hope this helped! ❤ If you guys have any questions, feel free to email me!
